Roboticon poster We’re so excited to be producing the ROBOTICON Tampa Bay FIRST Showcase again this year. The event, coming up this weekend, October 11 & 12, is free and open to the public and provides a great opportunity to see this great “Sport for the Mind” in action.

Our first event, last October, drew over 800 students from around Tampa Bay and Florida, and nearly 500 guests, and this year is on track to exceed those numbers.

Sponsored by Bright House Networks, and with support from a Hillsborough County Economic Development Innovation Initiative grant , ROBOTICON Tampa Bay provides FIRST students and guests a chance to enjoy a full scale FIRST Robotics Competition event, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST LEGO League scrimmages and practice games, a Jr. FIRST LEGO League display, and the opportunity for high school level teams to compete for ROBOTICON Challenge Awards, sponsored by Boca Bearings, and to enjoy a college and career fair, and more! Guests will be able to tour Team Pits to see team members working on their robots, and have a chance to talk to students, visit the Exhibit Hall to enjoy STEM demos, vendors and organizations, and learn more about technical, math and science career and college opportunities

ROBOTICON Tampa Bay aims to increase public awareness of FIRST K-12 education programs and to provide FIRST Robotics teams with a high-quality, post-season competitive event that provides opportunities for pre-season skill building, networking, and college and career readiness experiences. ROBOTICON also provides a fun and unique way for the general public to enjoy this “Sport for the Mind” and learn about the hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics that FIRST offers.

Our event partners, in addition to Bright House Networks, and Hillsborough County, sponsors include Boca Bearing Company, Technova Florida (organizers of Bar Camp Tampa Bay and Ignite Tampa Bay) Real Life, Inc., F5 Live: Refreshing Technology, Sumo Software, DEX Imaging, Prestige Leadership Advisors, iR3 Creative and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission.

If you’re in the Tampa Bay area, we hope you’ll come out to enjoy the event and see some amazing STEM education in action!
